Sandy Springs invites residents and visitors to celebrate a decade of the Sandy Springs Lantern Parade on Saturday, May 9, a march along Morgan Falls Road to the Chattahoochee River.

The community tradition brings together families, artists, and neighbors for an evening of glowing lanterns, puppets, music, and celebration along Morgan Falls Road to the Chattahoochee River.

Festivities kick off with the Pre-Parade Party at 6 p.m. in a new location this year, the Sandy Springs Police Headquarters and Municipal Court Complex. The parking lot will feature music, food trucks, and family-friendly activities before the parade steps off at 8:30 p.m.

Participants carrying handmade lanterns will march one mile along Morgan Falls Road, stopping at Morgan Falls Overlook Park, where hundreds of glowing lanterns illuminate the night. A shuttle service will be provided for the return trip to the parking lot.

The lantern parade is free and open to the public, with parking available at 7840 Roswell Road. Participants are encouraged to make their lanterns in advance, and no lanterns will be sold on the day of the event.

The city is also offering DIY Lantern Kits while supplies last.
