The last day of school in DeKalb County is May 28, and several organizations throughout Tucker are hosting unique day camps throughout June and July to help parents with childcare and create special memories for kids.
Registration is still open for summer camps hosted by the Tucker Parks and Recreation Department, Mama Debbie’s Art Emporium, and the Main Street School of Art. At these camps, kids will become superheros and wizards, build miniatures and toys, or learn new artistic, technological, and athletic skills.
Tucker Parks and Recreation camps
Tucker’s Parks and Recreation department hosts several day camps throughout the summer covering a wide variety of topics, from technology to sports. Registration for all Tucker’s Parks and Rec summer camps ends on May 25.
Sitcom Summer Camp: 7-11 years old
Children who attend Sitcom Summer Camp will learn the ins and outs of creating their own short sitcom! Activities and projects will include script writing, recording laugh tracks, and creating a theme song.
9 a.m. to 4 p.m., free care until 6 p.m.

Smart Tech Playground: 7-11 years old
Smart Tech Playground Summer Camp promotes a balanced, healthy approach to screen time with hands-on activities that teach kids to create with technology rather than just consuming it. Campers will dive into block coding with Sphero Robots, build with LEGOs, craft digital worlds, and explore mixed reality adventures.

Superhero Academy: 5-12 years old
Superhero Academy combines physical activities, arts, and educational enrichment to help children discover and develop their unique strengths. Through fun challenges and creative projects, campers learn what makes them extraordinary—just like a true superhero!

Basketball Camp: 7-12 years old
Campers will enhance their basketball skills with focused drills, teamwork, and exciting gameplay in a supportive, co-ed setting. They’ll build confidence, improve your court awareness, and put your skills to the test through hands-on instruction, fun scrimmages, and friendly competitions, the perfect way to grow their game and end the summer strong!

Soccer Camp: 7-12 years old
Campers will dribble, pass, and score their way through a fun-filled camp that builds teamwork, strategy, and confidence, perfect for players of all skill levels! Make sure to pack a swimsuit to cool off in the pool in the afternoon.

Mama Debbie’s Art Emporium camps
Mama Debbie’s, Tucker’s new community arts hub, will be hosting four art camps this summer. During these camps, kids will learn to create different works of art spanning medium.
Dates for children in first through fourth grades are June 8 through 12 and July 6 through 10. Children in third through seventh grades will meet June 15 through 19 and July 13 through 17. Each camp is $325 for full days (from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m.) or $225 for half days (9 a.m. to noon). For more information and to sign up, email info@mdae.art.
Main Street School of Art camps
Main Street School of Art, an arts education group nurturing imagination, experimentation, and discovery in downtown Tucker, hosts eight weeks of creative, half-day camps throughout the summer. All camps are $182 and suitable for children ages five through 12.
Painting Camps
Your little one will learn to paint landscapes, animals, and even mythical creatures during these paint camps, all suitable for beginner to advanced painters.
Painting the World: June 1-5, July 27-31; 9 a.m. to noon
Painting Mythical Creatures: June 8-12, July 13-17; 1 to 4 p.m.
Painting Animals: June 8-12, July 13-17; 9 a.m. to noon
Painting Fundamentals: June 22-26, July 20-24; 1 to 4 p.m.
Toy-Making Camp
This camp shows how to make toys using a mix of craft items, household items, and recycled materials. Each day will focus on a different type of toy, including puppets, dolls, and alien spacecraft.

Harry Potter Camp
Is your kid still waiting on their letter from Hogwarts? Luckily, they can attend a magical week at Tuckerwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry Camp, a satellite location of Hogwarts! Campers will make potions, learn the art of spellcasting, and create a clay mandrake, among other spellbinding activities.

Tiny Tucker Town
Each day campers will create miniature scenes (with pompom inhabitants) such as a snow scene, a beach scene, and a playground before setting up a tiny neighborhood to play with!

Exploring Art Camp
This camp allows children to express their inner artist by focusing on techniques with various media such as collage, oil, and chalk pastels, watercolor pencils, and more.
