Tucker resident Kayla Chen has received the Georgia Asian Pacific American Bar Association (GAPABA) Rising Star Award, an honor granted in celebration of Asian American and Pacific Islander Heritage Month to a member of the organization who has made significant contributions to the AAPI community and legal profession.
Chen is a Wealth Strategist and Senior Vice President at Truist Wealth, where she works with people to help them achieve their financial, tax, business succession, and estate planning goals.
Prior to joining Truist, Kayla began her legal career at Drew Eckl & Farnham and later practiced at Cohen Pollock Merlin Turner in Atlanta, where her work included estate planning, probate, fiduciary litigation, and corporate representation for businesses of all sizes.
She is a graduate of Georgia state University, Mercer University, and the American College of Trust and Estates Counsel (ACTEC) Fellows Institute. She also served as Co-Chair of the GAPABA’s Women’s Leadership Network from 2019 to 2021.
Chen received the award at the 12th annual GAPABA Gala at the Georgia Aquarium on May 21. Her achievement was also honored with a proclamation from Tucker Mayor Anne Lerner, issued during the city council work session on May 26.
“[Chen] has distinguished herself through her work helping individuals and families achieve their… goals with compassion, expertise, and integrity,” Mayor Lerner said. “[She] has demonstrated a strong commitment to mentorship, leadership and advancing the legal profession through her dedicated service with the Georgia Asian Pacific American Bar Association.”
AAPI Heritage Month, celebrated every year in May, honors the role Asian Americans, Native Hawaiians, and Pacific Islanders have played in shaping American history and culture.
