The City of Tucker has tentatively adopted a millage rate of 2.036 mills for fiscal year 2027, unchanged from the 2026 rate.

A “mill” represents one tax dollar for every $1,000 of assessed property value. Because the millage rate is not changing, this action would effectively be a property tax increase of 5.17% over the rollback rate, the rate at which property taxes would remain the same, of 1.936 mills.

At this millage rate, the average increase to a homestead property with a value of $425,000 would be $17.50, according to a press release shared with Rough Draft. The average increase to a non-homestead property of $1,100,000 would be $38.50.

This is the first year since Tucker’s founding in 2016 that the city has not rolled back the millage rate.

“The Mayor and City Council are proud of the level of service provided to the residents of the City and recognize the changing economic landscape,” Sonja Szubski, the communications director for the City of Tucker, wrote in a statement.

The City of Tucker will host two public hearings about the 2027 millage rate on June 8 at 11 a.m. and 6:45 p.m. at City Hall. An additional public hearing will be held 7 p.m. on June 22, also at the city hall.
