Getting ready for Pride

Wednesday, Sept. 30 — We put the finishing touches on our annual Atlanta Pride Guide issue of Georgia Voice and sent it to the printer last night. The October issue includes the full entertainment lineup, maps, parade details, dining suggestions, and more to get you ready for Atlanta Pride on Oct. 10-11. We’ve also got a calendar of Pride festivities happening around the state in October if you want to take a road trip. You can see the digital version here.

Here are a few news headlines: 

🌈 Congressman Everton Blair Jr., who represents Georgia’s 13th Congressional District, will be the Honorary Grand Marshal of the 2026 Atlanta Pride Festival.

🤬 The Department of Education rolled back a Biden-era Title IX interpretation on Monday that secured sex-based discrimination protections for students based on sexual orientation and gender identity.

⚖️ The Trump administration asked the U.S. Supreme Court on Monday to let federal prisons withdraw gender-affirming treatment from transgender detainees. 

💅 A federal judge dismissed fifth-place swimmer Riley Gaines’ lawsuit against the NCAA’s trans-inclusive policies.

AIDS Walk raises more than $1.5 million

💰 Over $1.5 million was raised during the 35th annual AIDS Walk Atlanta Music Festival and 5K Run on Sept. 26, surpassing the $1 million goal.

Saturday’s event attracted over 3,000 attendees who walked and ran to support Atlanta-based HIV/AIDS service organizations. Highlights of the event included performances by headliner Kelly Rowland and contemporary R&B artist Algebra Blessett.
