The Tucker City Council will meet for a special called meeting at 4:30 p.m. tomorrow, Oct. 7.
Four pieces of business are on the agenda, including a resolution to non-renew City Manager John McHenry’s employment agreement. This action does not terminate the city manager’s employment but rather provides the city and city manager to renegotiate the agreement, which was agreed upon on Jan. 8, 2024.
“As the City’s needs and priorities have evolved since the agreement was executed in 2024, the Mayor and City Council believe it is appropriate to review and renegotiate the terms of the City Manager’s employment agreement,” a memo regarding the resolution reads.
Sonja Szubski, Tucker’s Communications Director, told Rough Draft that the remaining three pieces of business will consolidate services.
These resolutions include one to non-renew a $5,000 a month retainer for Connect South to help establish Tucker’s presence at the State Capitol, navigate state legislations and funding opportunities, and advocate for Tucker’s interests during its early years of cityhood.
City Council members will also consider a contract to engage Civic Forward Strategies as the city’s governmental affairs firm. This contract would allocate the aforementioned $5,000 a month to the firm for providing proactive governmental affairs services at the state, regional, and county levels.
The council members will also vote to terminate an agreement with Jacobs Project Management Co. to provide engineering services to support the city’s infrastructure needs.
The Tucker City Council will meet at 4:30 p.m. at Tucker City Hall. The meeting will also be streamed via YouTube.
