Children at Heards Ferry Elementary School in Sandy Springs filed through the front doors after completing their first day of school Aug. 23. It was a chaotic scene as children tried to find the right bus home. Some children held hands, others cried. But in the end, most of the children left the school happy, such as third-grader Carter Pavloff, who smiled out the bus window as it left the school.
