Gaye Stathis says she is ending her campaign for a seat on Brookhaven City Council.

Gaye Stathis says she is ending her campaign for the District 3 seat on the new Brookhaven City Council, reducing the field for the seat to eight active candidates.

Stathis said she is suspending her campaign due to medical issues involving a family member. Stathis

said her name would remain on the Nov. 6 ballot, but that she is not campaigning for the position.

She said she is endorsing fellow candidate Kevin Quirk.

Brookhaven voters will have a chance to choose a mayor and four council members on Nov. 6. If runoffs are required, the runoff election will be held Dec. 4. The city opens for business Dec. 17.
