Even though he lives outside the city, the Dunwoody Homeowners Association on Jan. 6 named Police Chief Billy Grogan its citizen of the year.
“You are possibly the best hire our first [City] Council ever made,” DHA president Bill Grossman told Grogan as he accepted the award during the DHA’s annual meeting.
Under Grogan’s leadership, the police department “has brought more value and less controversy to the homeowners of Dunwoody than any other aspect of cityhood,” Grossman said.
Grogan became the city’s first police chief in 2008. Prior to that, he served as a deputy police chief in Marietta. He worked for the Marietta Police Department from 1981 until his retirement in 2008. He lives in Cobb County.
