The Atlanta Fire Department had a tough time knocking down flames at a Buckhead mansion on Tuesday night according to a report from our media affiliate CBS46. The fire broke out at 2789 Habersham Road just after 6 p.m.

Crews said that because the water main in the neighborhood is older, it was difficult to get a lot of water flowing to keep up with the massive amount of flames spreading through the home.

“When a fire is fully involved in a home this size it requires a lot of water to extinguish these fires,” Atlanta Fire Chief Kelvin Cochran said. “The hydrants were not an issue, it is the size of the water main.”

No one was home when the fire started and investigators have not released a cause.
