image001Join Decatur Active Living and the City of Decatur for Car Free Day on Wednesday, Sept. 24 at the Blue Sky Concert on the Square. This week’s concert will feature soul, R&B and jazz from the Blake Music Group from noon to 1 p.m.

Car Free Day encourages people to get out of their cars and run, walk, cycle or take public transit. Those who do will receive a special stick and/or tattoo.

Decatur’s Car Free Day is part of International Car Free Day, which first started in Europe in the 1990s and is a growing global movement celebrated in more than 2,000 cities in more than 30 countries. CFD is not anti-car, but promotes awareness of alternative forms of transportation and the public health benefits of more active lifestyles.
