The sinkhole that originally opened on West Wieuca Road near Dudley Lane in August and then again earlier this month is still causing traffic headaches.  The Atlanta Department of Public Works urged patience and for residents and motorists to follow posted detour signs as crews work to shore up the roadway around the sinkhole to prevent from happening again.

City public works commissioner Richard Mendoza told members of the Chastain Park Civic Association on Sept. 22 that the repair work should be completed Friday, or, weather permitting, sooner. “If things stay the way they are, we’ll have it open, I hope, by Wednesday or Thursday,” he said.
