The Dunwoody Nature Center announced Oldcastle as the recipient of the 2014 Dave Adams Award during the annual meeting of the Dunwoody Homeowners Association. Established by board members David and Marilyn Dalrymple in 1999, the Dave Adams Award winner is selected by the board of directors of the Dunwoody Nature Center to honor the individual, group or organization that has made the greatest contribution to the Center for the year.
Named in honor of the memory of Dave Adams, whose support of the Nature Center was given with the greatest love and dedication, Executive Director Alan Mothner said, the award’s purpose is to express recognition for service and gratitude for commitment to the mission of the Nature Center.
The selection of Oldcastle as the recipient of this year’s award was an unanimous choice for the Nature Center Board of Directors. In 2012, Oldcastle created and built a structural retaining wall for the Nature Center’s rain garden and established a reputation for going above and beyond to donate product, time, and expertise to the facility upgrades at the Nature Center. This past year, Oldcastle has designed and constructed the performance stage used by the Nature Center for concerts and presentations; as well as donating new kitchen countertops and appliances. For 2015, Oldcastle has already contributed to improvements at the park by supplying their Belgard “Old York” pavers for the permeable front entry re-design currently in progress.
“Over the years, Oldcastle employees have been strong supporters of the Dunwoody Nature Center,” said Mark Towe, CEO of Oldcastle. “The center is a community treasure that makes Dunwoody a better place to live and work, and Oldcastle is proud to be among the many contributors that have been a part of the center’s amazing transformation this year.”
