Screen Shot 2015-10-08 at 9.31.48 AMHere to Serve Restaurants handed out partial paychecks to some employees on Thursday and planned to give out more today, according to a report in the Atlanta Business Chronicle. Seventy-five of those employees have a filed a federal lawsuit against Here to Serve and hope recruit other former workers to join them.

Here to Serve put 1,000 people out of jobs on Monday when it abruptly closed all its metro Atlanta restaurants, including Noche, Smash, Prime and Twist.

Employees said even if full paychecks were distributed, they would proceed with the lawsuit, which names Here to Serve Restaurants Inc. and its affiliated companies, Thomas Catherall , individually, and Leigh Catherall individually, Oasis Outsourcing Inc., and its affiliated companies. The lawsuit is filed as a Collective Action Complaint for violations of the Fair Labor Standards Act.

Meanwhile, other local restaurants are reaching out to offer jobs to former Here To Serve employees and money is being raised through nonprofit The Giving Kitchen. Read more at this link.

  1. The “paycheck’s” received were only partial payment for only two weeks. No one got paid in full and we are still waiting on a check for the last week.
