The American Planning Association (APA) has named Midtown a 2016 Great Place, and a pop-up celebration is set for today, Oct. 4, from 4 to 4:30 p.m at the greenspace at the corner of Peachtree and 10th Streets. There will be remarks from Mayor Kasim Reed and other local officials.

Midtown was one of five neighborhoods nationwide selected by APA for the designation. Sharing the honor: Santa Ana, California; Old Louisville, Kentucky; Nob Hill in Albuquerque, New Mexico; and Downtown Warren, Rhode Island.

In its selection of Midtown, the APA cited the neighborhood’s planning initiatives, arts and culture and walkability. To read more, visit planning.org/greatplaces.
