UP NEXT, a cabaret-style event presented by United Music Studios to support a drive for baby items for nonprofit Families First, will be held Saturday, Dec. 8 at 8 p.m. at The Loft at Center Stage in Midtown.
The event will feature seven Atlanta-based singers, including Adam Washington, who talked with Atlanta INtown about his singing and acting career.
Washington grew up in Maryland and was first exposed to music through his family church. He listened to all kinds of music as a child, but what has consistently resonated with him have been the classics of the American Song Book. He studied theater in college in Gainesville and felt it was the only thing he could imagine loving to do every day. He was most recently seen in the Wallace Buice Theater sold out production of Alfred Uhry and Jason Robert Brown’s “Parade.” One of the songs he will be sharing on Saturday is Bill Withers’ “Grandma’s Hands.” He says his grandmother who died when he was just five. loved the song.
Joining Washington are Rachel Hewlett, Amanda Leveridge, Shane Mathis, Emma Perry, Jacob Roper, Catherine Sherling and special guest J. Tyler. They will be performing in a variety of genres from pop to country, folk and jazz. Original music, covers and holiday songs will be included in the evenings performance.
