(GDOT)

The city of Sandy Springs announced via social media that ramps onto the Glenridge Connector from GA 400 southbound and I-285 westbound will reopen on May 8, much sooner than originally announced.

The city said that the Georgia Department of Transportation (GDOT) informed them of the ramp reopenings. The city did not say what time of day the ramps would reopen.

GDOT contractors for Transform 285/400 will continue to work in the area after the reopenings, which may have an impact on travel.

Original story

Motorists won’t be able to exit onto the Glenridge Connector from GA 400 southbound or the I-285 westbound ramp for an estimated five weeks starting Friday, April 26.

The Georgia Department of Transportation (GDOT) said the closure is required so contractors can work on the bridge approach and pavement as part of the Transform 285/400 project.

Drivers will still be able to access the Glenridge Connector from I-285 eastbound, according to a press release from GDOT.

The work is scheduled to begin at 9 p.m. on Friday.

The full closure of I-285 westbound and SR 400 southbound (exit 3) to Glenridge Connector will allow crews to complete the work faster at this location in a safe environment and minimize overall impacts to the traveling public, according to the release. This is one of the final areas remaining to get the Transform 285/400 project to final configuration.

Other Transform 285/400 work will be performed during the daytime and at night, which often requires additional closures and travel impacts.

Message board signs and temporary traffic signs will be posted along the roadway to alert motorists of the closure and the posted detour route. Motorists can check GA511 for the latest travel information.

More information can be found online about the closure and detour routes.
