A location of Louisiana-based Mexican restaurant Habaneros will open at Midtown’s Spring Quarter next summer.

The restaurant will join the previously announced Japanese restaurants Sozou and Omakase by Ito and a yet-named restaurant from Indigo Road Hospitality founder Steve Palmer at the emerging Spring Street development.

Located at the 370-unit Sora residential tower, Habaneros will serve a Mexico City-inspired menu of dishes like birria, octopus, and lengua tacos, flauta flights, and platters of asado meats. In addition to a large patio, the restaurant will feature an indoor-outdoor bar slinging its popular margaritas.

“I have seen Midtown flourish into a well-developed hub for businesses, residences and restaurants, and I knew we would one day bring Habaneros here,” owner and former Atlanta resident Omar Lugo said in a prepared statement. “We pride ourselves on changing how Americans view Mexican food while combining fine dining at an agreeable price.”

Spring Quarter is backed by Atlanta real estate company Portman Holdings. Plans call for the redevelopment of an entire city block to include the Sora residential tower, an office tower, and the preservation and renovation of the historic H.M. Patterson Home and Gardens. The 24,000-square-foot former mortuary will become Palmer’s new restaurant, offering all-day, all-night dining and drinking options.

The Japanese restaurant Sozou from Chef Fuyuhiko Ito, will take over a ground floor space at Sora. The restaurant will serve a variety of Japanese dishes and offer a robata grill and sushi counter. Ito will also open Omakase by Ito on the eighth floor as a private omakase dining experience.
