A public memorial service for DeKalb County police Officer David Rose, who was killed during a shooting at the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention earlier this month, will be held Friday at First Baptist Atlanta.

The ceremony is scheduled for 11 a.m. and will also be livestreamed, county officials said. While there are no plans for a funeral procession, residents are invited to attend to honor Rose’s service. The church is located at 4400 Peachtree Road in Dunwoody.

Rose, 33, was fatally shot Aug. 8 after responding to reports of an active shooter at the CDC. Authorities said he was killed by Patrick Joseph White, who then took his own life. The attack prompted a lockdown at both the CDC and nearby Emory University.

The officer, a decorated U.S. Marine veteran and recent graduate of the DeKalb police academy, is survived by his pregnant wife and two young children with a third on the way.

More than $534,000 has been raised to support Rose’s family via GoFundMe.
