1. Community calls for new APD Zone 6 precinct

🚨 Zone 6 Community Safety Leaders are calling on the City of Atlanta to commit to a new Atlanta Police Department precinct serving the city’s east side.

The Zone 6 Community Safety Leaders represent neighborhood associations, community groups, and residents across nearly 25 neighborhoods on Atlanta’s east side, including Druid Hills, Kirkwood, Old Fourth Ward, and Poncey-Highland.

The coalition – which includes Atlanta City Council Member Alex Wan, Morningside Lenox Park Safety Chair Phyllis Wingo, and community members Kay Stephenson and Susan Kanellos – argues that the current Zone 6 precinct does not reach safety and functionality standards. The organization alleged that black mold had been discovered on the property, prompting a second remediation in the last two years.

2. Choreographer T. Oliver Reid talks bringing ‘Hadestown’ to Atlanta

VIA SCENE, A WEEKLY NEWSLETTER ABOUT FILM | SUBSCRIBE

🇬🇷 T. Oliver Reid knows “Hadestown” better than most.

He was an original cast member, and also served as the understudy for both Hermes and Hades before taking over as Hermes when André De Shields left in May of 2022. He later came on as associate choreographer for the Broadway production, and currently serves as the choreographer for the touring production coming to the Fox Theatre in Atlanta Nov. 14-16.

Taking on the role of choreographer for this tour came with plenty of challenges – namely, the fact that the turntable that served as such an integral part of the original production’s choreography would not be making the trip. Ahead of the show, Sammie Purcell spoke to Reid about making those changes.
