Upon reflection

Dec. 24 —  As the year closes, Atlanta’s arts scene is doing something natural – slowing down and reflecting.

With that in mind, I have a roundup of the most-read Sketchbook stories of 2025. Each highlights a city in motion – openings, re-openings, closings, conversations. Together, the stories document where Atlanta gathered, expanded, and made itself visible this year.

And then there’s Piedmont Park.

Unveiled last week, artist Gregor Turk’s mirrored installation “Myriad” near the park’s Meadow asks Atlantans to stop. To notice who’s beside you. To watch our city pass through reflection. To experience public space as a place for pause rather than production.

One story looks back at a year defined by momentum. The other offers a quiet interruption.

What do you see when you reflect?

Gregor Turk mirrors Atlanta

🪞 Installed just as the city hits peak holiday pace, “Myriad,” artist Gregor Turk’s new mirrored installation in Piedmont Park, offers a reason to slow down. In this Sketchbook Q&A, he reflects on how public art creates space for connection in a season defined by constant motion.
