🏈 No. 6 Ole Miss hit a 47-yard field goal with six seconds remaining to upset No. 3 Georgia in the Allstate Sugar Bowl 39-34 last night in New Orleans. The Rebels advance to the College Football Playoff semifinal in the Vrbo Fiesta Bowl, where they will face No. 10 Miami on Thurs., Jan. 8.

🏈 The other Semifinal will be No. 1 Indiana against No. 5 Oregon in the Chick-fil-A Peach Bowl in Atlanta on Fri., Jan. 9.

🇨🇭 Officials do not suspect terrorism, but continue to investigate the cause of the deadly fire at a Swiss bar during New Year’s Eve celebrations. About 40 people were killed, and more than 115 were injured. 

🗽 New York City Mayor Zohran Mamdani opened his term with a call for “affordability and abundance,” acknowledging skeptics, but pledging a democratic socialist agenda focused on the working class.
