More than 35,000 Georgians cast ballots on Monday, April 27, during the first day of early voting for the upcoming midterm primary election in May.

According to a statement from Secretary of State Brad Raffensperger, 35,352 Georgians cast their ballots in person, a 29 percent increase over the 2022 primary election.

“This record-breaking turnout is proof that Georgians trust our election process,” Raffensperger said. “My office is in constant coordination with county election officials to ensure early voting continues to run smoothly.”

In addition to the in-person votes cast, 1,732 absentee ballots have been accepted, the statement continued.
