The two-block extension of 15th Street in Midtown is now open to traffic.
According to the Midtown Alliance, 15th Street offers new access for pedestrians, cyclists, and motorists from West Peachtree (where the street originally terminated) to Spring and Williams Streets.
The new street also allows easy access to the I-75 north ramp.
The project has been in the works since 2017, when the extension was awarded a grant through the Atlanta Regional Commission for partial design, engineering, and construction funding. Additional city, state, and federal funding helped bring the project to fruition.
In just the last few weeks, crews finished installing landscaping, signage, roadway striping, and bike lane markings.
