Brookhaven has begun the search for firms to create the city’s long-term plans.
On Oct. 4, the city posted to its website a request for qualifications for a comprehensive plan, a comprehensive transportation plan, and a parks and recreation master plan.
In the request for qualifications, the city defines the comprehensive plan as “the long range planning document which will serve to guide growth and development over the next 20 years.”
The transportation plan will identify transportation improvements and develop a plan for sidewalks, bicycle lanes and transit options in Brookhaven. The parks master plan will inventory the parks and assess community and programming needs.
The deadline for firms to submit proposals is 2 p.m. Oct. 25. The firms will be selected Nov. 15.
City officials would like for the comprehensive plan to be completed by July 31. The transportation and parks and recreation plans have a target completion date of April 18.
“City leaders have an interest in forming a vision and goals for the effective delivery of services to the community. Adopted plans will serve [as] a blueprint for the future growth, development, and management of the city of Brookhaven,” according to the request for qualifications.
