The 8th annual Night of Hope Gala to raise funds for ALS research is set for Oct. 18 at the InterContinental Buckhead. Amyotrophic Lateral Sclerosis (ALS), often referred to as Lou Gehrig’s disease, is a neurodegenerative disease which progresses in the parts of the nervous system that control voluntary muscle movement.

In just seven years, the Gala has raised over $3.6 million to fund research for the treatment of this debilitating disease. The funds are allocated for the Muscular Dystrophy Association’s ALS Division, which leads the worldwide scientific search for treatments and a cure for ALS. Twenty percent of the net proceeds from the Night of Hope Gala are designated to Emory University’s ALS Center.
