The Atlanta City Council on Tuesday approved a resolution by Councilmember C.T. Martin urging the delegations of Fulton and DeKalb counties to oppose House Bill 29, “Georgia campus carry act of 2013,” which would allow students to bring guns onto college campuses. The resolution also opposes House Bill 512, “safe carry protection act,” which would allow individuals to carry a weapon in government buildings and churches in the state of Georgia.

“The city of Atlanta, other municipalities along with several churches and civic organizations are working vigorously to host gun buyback programs and other measures to get guns off our streets,” Martin said. “I believe these particular pieces of legislation are counterproductive to what we are attempting to do to curtail gun violence in our communities.”

  1. WOW!! These people are absolute morons and refuse to look at facts and statistics. My kids, whether it’s legal or not, WILL carry weapons on campus for protection. There is no legislation or resolution that can change that. Of course, with this being Atlanta, the stupidity here is rampant!

  2. So CT Martin says that Georgia should deny inalienable civil rights to students who are already being preyed upon by Atlanta’s criminal class. For shame.
