Overnight lanes closures are coming June 1-19 to Buckhead’s Northside Drive near Woodward Way for a bridge replacement project.

The closures will run weeknights, 10 p.m. to 5 a.m., and affect two of three lanes. Flaggers will direct traffic to the open lane. The schedule may change based on weather.

The closures will allow contractors to bring in “large cranes and equipment” to install 140-foot-long beams for the new bridge over Peachtree Creek, according to the Georgia Department of Transportation. The city of Atlanta will perform sewer work on a line there as well.

The work is a for a 15-foot-wide “utility bridge” that eventually will become a pedestrian bridge. Work on the project began late last year and is expected to be finished in late summer. Once it is complete, work will begin on a new roadway bridge, which will include a bicycle path and sidewalk.
