The I-75/85 Downtown Connector has reopened after police and rescue units successfully talked a man into coming down from the ledge of the MARTA Civic Center Station.

The interstate was closed in both directions for more than two hours beginning about 7:30 p.m. as the man paced and danced along the ledge of the station that spans the Connector.

Multiple airbags were deployed across the interstate lanes as negotiators tried to talk the man down.

Just before 10 p.m., the man voluntarily came down an Atlanta Fire Rescue truck ladder and was put into an ambulance.

Mayor Andre Dickens praised the Atlanta Police Department and Atlanta Fire Rescue Department in a story posted on his Instagram account:

This is a developing story. Check back for updates.
