Gooooooooaaaaalllllll!
Friday, June 12 — Welcome back to your weekly dose of all things Tucker! The World Cup officially started yesterday, with the first match in Atlanta scheduled for Monday. If you’re not interested in braving Downtown Atlanta for a match or some other World Cup festivities (completely understandable, as the area isn’t easy to navigate even without a global event), Tucker and neighboring cities have plenty of fun scheduled for the next month.
Before we get into our Tucker World Cup guide, some news:
🗳 Early voting ends today for the runoff election between DeKalb Board of Education candidates Tracy Brisson and Sonja Szubski. The runoff is June 16.
🇺🇸 The Pocketbook Brigade is hosting a watch party for A Concert for the First Amendment on June 14 at 3350 Northlake Parkway NE. The event begins at 7 p.m. and costs $5 to cover food and drinks. RSVP by June 13.
🍕 In sad news, Enzo’s Pizza has closed its Tucker location after the death of one of its business partners. The property has been sold to a currently unknown buyer.
🤠 Monthly line dancing returns to Tucker Rec Center on June 17. The class is currently full, but you can either sign up for the wait list or secure your spot in next month’s class on July 15.
🚗 The monthly Tucker Cruise-In returns to Main Street tomorrow. Expect a wide variety of cars, ranging from antiques to street rods and motorcycles to imports.
✌️ Stay safe,
Katie

Tucker weighs in on Henderson Park plan
🌳 Tucker community members met last weekend at city hall to share insights and get a glimpse into the development of the master plan for Henderson Park.
During the two-day open house on June 5 and 6, citizens shared feedback on options for the park, placing red and green stickers on inspiration visuals for additions to the park that they hated and loved, respectively.
Ideas presented during the open house were informed by the results of the Henderson Park Master Plan Community Survey. Among the 1,237 people who participated in the survey, the park’s trails were an overwhelming favorite. Nearly 60% of responses named the trails as a primary reason for visiting the park.

City Council approves 2027 budget
💰 Members of the Tucker City Council approved a budget for fiscal year 2027 during a meeting on June 8.
The council members approved the budget with an amendment that allocated an additional $500,000 in the fiscal year 2028 budget away from Hugh Howell improvements, moving instead toward the South Fork Peachtree Creek Greenway to prioritize the completion of phase one by 2029.
The project will connect 32 miles of trails between Tucker’s downtown and Emory University. This $500,000 would go toward the estimated $1.5 million needed to complete the first phase of the project.
