
Isaias makes landfall
Saturday, Oct. 10 — Tens of thousands of homes and businesses are without power this morning after Hurricane Isaias made landfall overnight (CNN video) near Destin, FL, as a Category 2 storm. It has since weakened to a post-tropical cyclone.
📋 Many events across the region have been canceled or postponed, including Oakhurst Porchfest, Alpharetta’s Wire & Wood Festival, and opening day of the Atlanta Pride Festival. The annual parade is still scheduled for noon on Sunday, along with festivities in Piedmont Park.
A couple of college football games have been moved, but the primetime Georgia-Alabama matchup in Tuscaloosa, AL, remains on schedule for now (more below).

📈 Buoyed by the tech sector, stocks rose on Friday as traders looked to rebound from a volatile week of elevated Treasury yields and oil prices. Both the Nasdaq and S&P 500 added 0.6%, while the Dow Jones traded up 423 points, or 0.8%.
✈️ Delta Air Lines cut its 2026 profit forecast amid high jet fuel prices tied to the Iran war, though CEO Ed Bastian said travelers are booking despite higher fares.

🏀 The Dream beat the Liberty 85-83 last night to advance to the WNBA Finals, where they will face Golden State starting next Saturday in San Francisco. It’s Atlanta’s first finals appearance since 2013.
🔎 The Sandy Springs Police Department said officers were running a human trafficking sting at Morgan Falls Overlook Park when a resident alleged racial profiling there. The operation led to four arrests.
