Midtown Atlanta’s newest greenspace will open to the public and begin hosting events in September.

According to an update from Midtown Alliance, improvements at the 98 14th Street property, called Midtown Green, include installation of a storm drainage system and regrading and leveling the site to create an open multi-use lawn and walking paths around the perimeter.

Midtown Alliance said in an Aug. 13 social media post that public events at the park will begin in September, including film screenings, lunch from food trucks accompanied by live music and lawn games, and the Midtown Artisans Market.

Space for bike and scooter parking will be located in the southeast corner of the site along 14th Street.

Formerly planned to be the site of the No. 2 Opus Place luxury condo tower, the old sales center building on the western edge of the property is being converted into the new headquarters for Midtown Alliance’s public safety and maintenance teams.

Signage is being planned for installation on the facade of the building, along with space for large-scale public art. Giant letters spelling out MIDTOWN will also be a focal point of the park.

Long-term plans for the park include a pavilion and performance venue, a restaurant and café, and a community building with public restrooms.
