Friday, Sept. 25 — Fall is officially here! I hope you, like me, are celebrating the sudden and welcome cooler weather. There’s no better way to enjoy the crisp fall air than with some fall football; head to the Tucker Town Green tomorrow afternoon to watch UGA take on the University of Oklahoma. The green opens at 2:30 p.m. for visitors to grab their spots before kickoff at 3:30 p.m.
🦋 Omega Support Center hosts a Night of Reflection honoring the legacy of Dolly Parton tonight at 6 p.m. The event will include music, a 30-minute documentary, refreshments, and fundraising to support Omega’s senior services, food programs, and literacy support. Buy tickets here.
🏭 The City of Tucker hosts Tucker Manufacturing Day at Stone Ridge Event Center on Thurs., Oct. 1. The event will feature two panel discussions followed by a guided tour of American Tables and Seating. The free event begins at 9 a.m.

🌳 The DeKalb County Department of Recreation, Parks and Cultural Affairs invites residents to a series of public meetings to discuss the Comprehensive Parks Master Plan Update. The first meeting will be held on Thursday, Oct. 1, from 6-8 p.m. at the Tobie Grant Recreation Center in Scottdale.

Tucker Summit CID president steps down
🌇 Tucker Summit Community Improvement District (TSCID) President Emory Morsberger will not renew his contract next year, concluding 15 years of leadership.
Since the CID’s founding in 2011, Morsberger has worked with property owners and public partners to make the district safer, more attractive, and easier to navigate. During his tenure, TSCID provided maintenance, cleanup, and landscaping services along 15 miles of streets, planted more than 500 trees, replaced more than 500 damaged or faded street signs, and completed concrete repairs along more than two miles of roadway.

Woman intends to file lawsuit after alleged assault at Londzell theater
😡 A woman alleges that she was slapped by a musician during an event at Londzell Performing Arts Theatre in Tucker earlier this month.
During the Legendary Awards Show and Concert on Sept. 6, Shamika Boyd was allegedly slapped by Southern soul singer Sky Whatley. Boyd was in attendance to watch her daughter, Jada Boyd, perform a DJ set.
Cellphone video of the incident appears to show Boyd approaching the stage with her hand out before Whatley slaps her across the face.

One-woman show comes to Brio tonight
💓 After Delores Burgess, the owner and creative director of the Brio Theater in Tucker, was diagnosed with breast cancer in 2003, she knew she wanted to become a face for other Black women who had been diagnosed with the disease.
Twenty-three years later, Burgess is a three-time breast cancer “conqueror” and is staging her show at the Brio Theater. “Fighting For the Title” has changed since it was first performed in 2008, with her subsequent diagnoses in 2009 and 2019 informing the newest version, which comes to the stage tonight, Sept. 25.
Additional shows are scheduled through Oct. 4.
